AIRSHIP Project Featured in MariCybERA Research Seminar Series
The AIRSHIP Project was recently showcased as part of the prestigious MariCybERA ERA Chair Research Seminar Series, hosted by TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy. Representing the project, Kristin Kerem delivered a compelling presentation titled “Wing-in-Ground Craft AIRSHIP – A New Sustainable Vessel Using Ground Effect to Glide the Seas.”
Her seminar explored the innovative concept behind the AIRSHIP A-1, a zero-emission autonomous vessel designed to harness ground effect for efficient maritime transport. The presentation covered several key areas:
- Historical context of ground-effect vehicles, tracing their evolution and relevance to modern sustainable transport
- An overview of the AIRSHIP Project, including its goals to revolutionize coastal and inter-island mobility through advanced aeronautical and maritime technologies
- Current project status, highlighting achievements to date and outlining the strategic direction as the consortium enters the second half of its four-year timeline
The seminar provided a valuable opportunity to engage with the academic and research community, fostering dialogue around sustainable innovation in maritime mobility. It also reinforced the project’s interdisciplinary approach, combining aerospace engineering, maritime technology, and environmental responsibility.
