AIRSHIP A-1 takes off!

The AIRSHIP project has reached a major milestone: the A-1, the project’s main technology demonstrator, has successfully taken off from water.

With a wingspan of 5.5 meters, the A-1 is the largest vehicle built in the project so far. During the test, it completed a short, stable flight.

The tests were carried out in September 2026 at Niihama in Tampere, Finland, by the test team of Juho Halttunen, Arto Jyvälä, and Antton Hoisko.
