AIRSHIP sister projects

In Horizon Europe a “sister project” refers to a complementary initiative financed under the same or a related EU funding program or call. These projects often share similar objectives, target groups, or thematic areas, and are designed to mutually enrich each other by exchanging insights, methodologies, and results to enhance their impact and reach within the European Union.

AIRSHIP was funded under the HORIZON Research and Innovation Actions for Climate, Energy and Mobility, under the specific call 40 different projects were funded (click here to see all funded projects). This page presents our closest sister projects, as well as those most relevant or with similar objectives, even if they are not funded under the same call or priorities. The aim is to highlight other initiatives that could create a knowledge network for the future of sustainable transportation in Europe.

RefMap developed a digital service that optimises flight trajectories on both micro and macro levels. By using environmental data, such as wind, noise, CO2 and non-CO2 emissions, RefMap’s analytics platform will help airlines and Unmanned Aerial Systems make more eco-friendly decisions.

SEAWINGS proposes the development of wing-in-ground effect vehicles (WIG vehicles) designed to increase strategic preparedness and to perform defence-related operations and missions in the sea/air interface in Europe.

ImAFUSA was a European project that focused on evaluating factors that influence citizens’ acceptance of Urban Air Mobility (UAM). The project goal was to deliver a framework that would help Local Authorities and other U-space stakeholders and users with the delivery of socially acceptable and beneficial UAM deployment in cities.

COLOSSUS will develop a system-of-systems design methodology which for the first time will enable the combined optimization of aircraft, operations and business models. Resulting specific solutions for intermodal transport and wildfire-fighting as well as developed methods and tools will be openly published in order to foster exploitation for research and industry.

E-CONTRAIL 2 is a SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking project that builds on the research carried out in the E-CONTRAIL project (2023–2025), which focused on contrail detection, radiative forcing estimation, contrail outbreak forecasting, and monitoring. The project also leverages advances from related European initiatives, including CICONIA and ContrailNet, as well as recent contrail detection efforts undertaken in the United States.
